Step 1: Harvesting the coconut husk – a zero-waste approach

Unlike potting mixes that rely on peat extraction (which harms natural peat bogs), our coir vital grow potting mix (also known as coir substrate) is derived from the outer husk of the coconut—a part of the fruit that would otherwise go to waste.

In Sri Lanka, coconut farmers carefully harvest mature coconuts, ensuring no part of the plant is discarded. The husks, once considered a waste product, are now a key ingredient in sustainable horticulture.
