Sustainability & Environmental Impact

  1. Is coir potting mix an eco friendly alternative to peat? Yes, coir is renewable and far more sustainable than peat, which is harvested from non renewable bogs.
  1. What is your coir’s carbon footprint? Our coir is processed with minimal energy and often shipped compressed to reduce transport emissions, offering a lower footprint than peat or some local bag compost. As these are shipped in bulk, a container will carry over 350,000 L and this has a very low carbon footprint. We also try using dual fuel methanol vessels, which run off low emission green methanol, in aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  1. How is coir waste managed during processing? Coir waste is often composted or repurposed locally in farming or landscaping, minimising waste.
  1. Are coir products zero waste or low waste? Coir itself is low waste. Packaging varies, but we aim for recyclable or compostable materials wherever possible.
  1. Is the packaging for your coir products sustainable or recyclable? Yes, we’re committed to using recyclable or minimal impact packaging for all coir products.
  1. Does coir  potting mix contribute to soil health long term? Yes, coir adds organic matter, improves soil texture, and supports microbial activity over time.
